So, you’re ready to get engaged? This is an incredibly exciting time in a relationship and a memory you are going to cherish (and share) forever! This makes picking the right location so important as this will forever be ‘your spot.’ Do you love what New Hampshire has to offer but are unsure of where to go? We’ve got you covered with 5 of our favorite locations to make a marriage proposal! Plus, these are outdoor scenic locations that are easily accessible and don’t require hiking.

We’ve composed this list of some of our favorite locations in the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

1. Castle in the Clouds - Moultonborough, NH

Do you want stunning mountain top views that overlook the lake without the effort of hiking? This is THE spot for you! A small walk to a grassy picnic area and you are greeted by some of the best views in the Lakes Region with a vista that overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee.

2. Cate Park - Wolfeboro, NH

This charming little park is right on the Wolfeboro bay of Lake Winnipesaukee with a gazebo and beautiful gardens nearby. After popping the question go grab a celebratory ice cream cone (we love the iconic Yum Yum Shop), a drink at a local brewery, or dine out at one of the lakeside restaurants.

3. Echo Lake State Park & Cathedral Ledge - North Conway, NH

Echo Lake is nestled in the White Mountains not far from charming downtown North Conway. This lake has a gorgeous greenish blue hue and is backed by Cathedral and White Horse Ledge. Cathedral Ledge is a short drive and has views that overlook Echo Lake for a totally different perspective. Close by are breweries (Moat Mountain, Tuckerman Brewing Co, Sea Dog Brewing) and restaurants to celebrate at after a resounding ‘Yes!’

4. Jackson Falls - Jackson, NH

This one holds a special place for me as this is where I asked my now wife to marry me. We’ve always loved this location, particularly in the summer time. Jackson Falls is located on Wildcat River and has a total cascading drop of over 100′. This is a gently flowing river surrounded by nature and overlooking the mountains and downtown Jackson. A local favorite for amazing all day breakfast food is Yesterdays Restaurant.

5. Rocky Gorge - Albany, NH

Rocky Gorge Scenic area is located on the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountain National Forest. This area is right on the Swift River with stunning falls, a bridge suspended over the river, and wooded hiking trails. This is another easily accessible location so if you want to get dressed up you won’t have any issues getting to the destination of your choice.
